D-Day

The term D-Day has no particular meaning, D stands for Day like H stands for Hour. For every military operation a day D and an hour H are defined for when it will begin: it is curious then that such a generic and not very relevant term has instead impressed itself in the collective memory like the name of the invasion of June 6, 1944 and of the following war campaign.

This period of World War II is presented in various sections that deal with different aspects:

• the strategic situation before D-Day
• the motivations for choosing the moment and the place of the operation
• the planning and logistical preparation of the invasion
• the analysis of the succession of the events of those months, provided with a series of maps that describe the evolution of the events
